A Disco Ball in the Sky: The Reunion Tower
When you see the Dallas skyline, you see various beautiful and intrinsic structures, but the one building that stands out most and looks like a disco ball in the sky is Dallas’s famous Reunion Tower. This landmark provides visitors with a 360-degree city view, 2 restaurants, and a gift shop! Built in 1998 with the intent of attraction purposes, the reunion tower has gathered hundreds of thousands of visitors over the years. It’s a popular spot for families, friends, and couples. Standing tall at 561 feet high, the Reunion Tower is the 15th tallest building in Dallas that is priced reasonably, with promotions online which including parking! This destination is a wonderful deal if you’re looking to go on a family outing or with a group of people.
Even when you’re a Dallas native, the reunion tower holds its own lively, surreal atmosphere worth visiting. Occasions such as the fourth of July light up the reunion tower red, white, and blue, in the pattern of an American flag to show our patriotism. The reunion tower also stands with victims of tragedy. On November 15th 2015, the Reunion Tower lit up with the French Flag as Texans observed a moment of silence to show that our hearts and thoughts were with the families of those suffering through the Paris shooting. It’s little things like this that make up Texas, making me so proud to live here and call myself a Texas my home.
The observation deck is centerpiece of this structure, highlighting a 360-degree view of the Dallas skyline. The observation deck also connects to the cafes and gift shop allowing visitors to go back and forth between the two. The Cloud 9 cafe is one of these cafes located on the deck and is so beautifully designed with a bar and lounge area. It is run by the Austrian celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck who has been on many cooking television series including Iron Chef, The Smurfs, and Food Fight. Many celebrities have been sighted at this location and the Reunion Tower has also been starred in the media including in shows like The Amazing Race, Robocop, and the TV series Dallas! Overall the Reunion Tower is a really cool and trendy location worth a visit. Even it’s name means the area of people coming together, gathering, and becoming unified as a whole which just shows the beauty of Dallas, Texas.
